Gonna credit Higgs for this idea, his thread about the TP gave me an idea like no other!

THE DYE COLLECTIVE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTER (LOLZ)

pretty simple.

Tired of getting the same "YOU'VE ALREADY UNLOCKED THIS DYE" Dye every single time. Dont wanna spend 15g on Abyss? LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I was thinking...

If people here on the forums, instead of selling them, gave their already obtained dyes to a single person (blues, greens, and rares you dont really need to sell and already have) so that he can take alll those dyes and forge them into new ones!

People give dyes, person A forges them, and depending on what color/who wants/desirability we can give people dyes they want for FREE!

Im just saying. If people collectively pooled all their crappy unused/already obtained colors that we could generate alot of rarer dyes. Popping out Abyss's and Celestials for EVERYONE yayaayayay!

Again most of the 89cp to even 10s are kinda crap. Forging them atleast gives you double the chances (kinda). Its way for Ehmry Bay to collectively help each other out with something small.

My idea is a non-profit kinda thing. We aren't taking money, giving it out, or making it ourselves.

Just a thought, might need some refining.... and detail loooool.

How do you forge new dyes?

You take 4 dyes of the same rarity and put them in the mystic forge

Same way you would do rares except you dont have a weapon/armor specific transmutes. It only goes by rarity.

So if you forge 4 blue rarity dyes you either get a blue back or a green.

Greens have a chance to gives yellows, and yellows just stay their same rarity.

A generous idea. I wonder, if we give out dyes for free, lots of people will be asking for Abyss and stuff. Is there a fair way to decide who gets it? Or maybe just liquidate it and split up the $ (which makes this for-profit, sort of).
Side note, Anet might be trying to lower dye and mini prices with the new update. I'm not even going to try predicting the effect of that on this idea.

Its an idea. I run into so many dyes i already either have or are just not really my style that it'd be easy for to just dump it all on someone.

This is just a way to utilize what you dont really need (and which ever dont really sell) and put it to better use. Of course everyone is going to want Abyss and Celestial, thats why im hoping we can atleast get people to donate willingly for a while to provide the opportunities to strike an Abyss.

Idk im still messing around with it all in my head.

just craft the dyes with a livestream and all will be fine.

What a great idea! There's potential for it to get messy when it comes time to pick who gets what, but I'd love to contribute to this when I can in the future. I know personally that I want to unlock all the dyes on all my characters, so it'll be a while before I can donate, but I think I'll try to keep a list of what extra dyes I do have updated on my profile in case anyone wants them.
