I've decided it's time I started on a legendary. Does anyone have a really good guide link that I could take a look at to see how to get started?

edit: yes I'd rather make it than buy it.

Are you looking for a listy thing or like..a video guide? Matt Visual and MagicMike2 on youtube have some nice legendary video guides. They're making them as they go though, so neither are complete.
I also made lists for each of the legendaries because I prefer to check things off IRL than on the computer.

I'm the same. I have a lot of freetime at work so I tend to browse the internet and official forums looking for tips and such on precursors and t6 materials.

Which one are you going for? I was just thinking yesterday that Bifrost might look nice on a guardian. It's too bad my guardian is an itty bitty asuran.

Dang. Here I was keeping track of everything on spreadsheets when there's already spreadsheets(-ish) on the Interwebs! Not that I will probably finish a Legendary before I move on to something else I'm sure. But I also want to make mine instead of buying it. I'll probably have to end up buying the precursor though since the odds of getting the precursor I want are 0.000000000001% (approximate estimate).

I'm going to make (not buy) Meteorlogicus...   I might be obsessed with it but I think it's just a goal and a good reason to keep pushing on in this game.  I'm not trying to finish it too quick, either.

So... my wife might think it's an obsession and that might be because of my desktop background. Here's the right half of it...

I'm primarily on the gold grind right now (with some karma, badges, and skill points still needed).

The price of lodestones is:

0__________o

Not to mention the precursor, and whatnot.

With any luck, the changes in the upcoming patch will grease the wheels on all this a bit.

I realized some time ago that ANet did this on purpose.  They'll reduce a component like Karma and they think that they can trick us into believing they did us a favor.  Karma isn't nearly as hard to get as the gold... (unless you buy the gold). Point is, ANet is depending on people buying gold.  It all comes back to them wanting us to buy gems and convert to gold. That's their income.  100 Icy Runestones?  Why not just ask us to throw in 100 gold as that dragon isn't worth the fight otherwise.

Ok that all sounded bitter.  And yes I know the dragon has a chance to drop the good stuff. I still love this game!  Not going to quit just because they hope to make money. I'll likely be spending the next year on Tyria at least.

On the bright side, dragon chests and such are supposed to have a better chance at dropping the good stuff after tomorrow's update.

But yeah. It's a grind. And even spending $$ on gems won't get you very far toward that legendary, sadly.

I would totally steal your desktop idea if I didn't think my bf would smack me. I need to stop leveling alts. It's a sickness. I've been working on the moot, and I'm just a few days of ori runs away from the gift of metal and the gift of moot. (then I still need to buy the recipes >.<) After I get the ori out of the way, I just need 150 ectos, 150 powerful blood, 200 totems, 100 dust, and 97 icy runestones. The fact that I can count the names on one hand is freaking me out. o.o I'm legitimately close...then I realize that all of that is going to cost like a billion gold.
