I would like to take the people complaining, personally deposit them in a dumpster, close the lid, and weld it shut. Those people are bads and posers who should have their WvW cards revoked immediately.

Also, Kaineng...lol. A bandwagon server loses its guilds to bandwagoning. Never saw that one coming.
I can't :) enough at this and what Khayoss said.

depending on how this is done, we may no longer be able to predict with any confidence the matchups for the coming week.

it's likely that we won't know who we're playing against until the match actually starts.  this would make it harder to plan strategies in advance, and the servers that are able to think on their feet and/or communicate well are going to have an advantage.

I am hoping that the new matches will at least be published in advance... Even an hour is enough to figure out who is going where... We will have to just be a lot more on our toes going into reset. Maybe establish a commander planning room i TS specifically for reset discussion where we can all pop in and do a 5 minute round table to figure out what's what.

i'd rather have seen this.  English Premier soccer league style.

there are 24 servers.  have 4 major tiers.
Tier 1: ranks - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (6 servers)
Tier 2: ranks - 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (6 servers)
Tier 3: ranks - 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 (6 servers)
Tier 4: ranks - 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 (6 servers)

Have every tier play all possible combinations at least once - if my math is correct (which it rarely is), that is 9 different match ups per tier; roughly 2~3 months of "league" play.  You will see 1 server 4 times - enough to promote some rivalry - but the 3rd team will always be different.  After 9 weeks of play, the top 2 teams for each tier gets promoted and the bottom 2 teams for each tier gets demoted.  Obviously tier 1 can only demote and tier 4 can only promote.

but either way, hopefully this shakes things up.

Until we see the actual equations, it's hard to know what to expect. "Random" can cut both ways. The good news is that anything is better than stagnation, at this point... and they can tweak the variance of the random variable until they get something that works.

I agree with Jinx regarding our first matchup: best prediction absent additional info is AR/BP. At least it won't stay that way forever.

I've run the numbers to see which matchups are likely, and which matchups aren't likely.  Based on the numbers in Arenanet's post (which are a couple of weeks old), here are the probabilities (expressed as percentages) that we would face each server:

23.895079 Anvil Rock
23.298533 Borlis Pass
22.926449 Stormbluff Isle
22.899712 Crystal Desert
18.285055 Darkhaven
17.329312 Sea of Sorrows
14.017729 Yak’s Bend
12.029472 Isle of Janthir
11.072875 Sorrow’s Furnace
10.404076 Kaineng
9.977398 Maguuma
3.764921 Devona’s Rest
3.352942 Gate of Madness
2.752902 Northern Shiverpeaks
1.657874 Tarnished Coast
1.405288 Fort Aspenwood
0.457828 Dragonbrand
0.292382 Henge of Denravi
0.095938 Ferguson’s Crossing
0.040180 Eredon Terrace
0.037693 Sanctum of Rall
0.004841 Jade Quarry
0.001521 Blackgate

of course, as the ratings and volatility values change each week, the probabilities will change as well.

Personally I'd really rather not face SoS (dat night crew), but any of SBI/CD/DH would be interesting I think.
