How much difference do ascended trinkets make in WvW? I have four exotic equipped 80s (warrior, thief, mesmer, necro) and over 210 laurels that I can't decide how to spend.

If it doesn't make much difference, I'll probably just keep sitting on  them. If it does make a noticeable difference, I'll start making choices.

Buy the endless cat tonic. That's the only thing you really should be buying with laurels anyway.

I don't know that it really makes that much of a difference tbh, but it's enough of a difference to get me all OCD about getting it all on my mesmer anyway, which I've finally finished now except for that infernal backpiece. :twitch:

Well, that may not be a bad idea. I heard they were going to buff the cat to tonics to attract kitten pets that proc'd both "torment" and "cuddle".

There's about as much difference between Ascended and Exotic as there is between Rare and Exotic.

So yeah, it's a pretty significant difference, depending on the build--obviously it will do more for classes that rely on critical damage.  Ascended gear is way better on a point-per-percent (as in, the number of stat points you 'give up' for a % of critical damage) than the exotic stuff, too.

Keep in mind that you can use badges to soak up some laurel costs from the WvW laurel vendor.  It's basically 250 badges for 5 laurels off.

I think difference between ascended and exotic is around 7%, whereas between rare and exotic its around 13%. However the biggest gains on ascended are crit dmg gear as some posters have mentioned above.

So, if I have to choose between upgrading my power builds (warrior, mesmer) versus my condition builds (necro, thief), I should choose the power builds... because they will get the most out of it.

None of my characters are glassy, but I do try to maintain some kind of burst.

Is it just the rings that are laurels + badges? I have never looked at ascended stuff in WvW, but I know they added a merchant...just not sure what they sell.
Hop into one of your guilds and do guild missions for accesories. Only takes two weeks to get enough of the commendations, I think. Mine are just stacking up.

[EDIT] I just checked and you can only buy rings in WvW. That's lame. Guess it's laurels or commendations.

u can also get Amulets in WvW but not accessories T.T it IS lame. guild commendations are easy but most of the time night time when my guilds run them, im busy > <

It also really depends on the actual stat combinations you are referring to.

For example, my Mesmer has cavalier trinkets. There is no cavalier upgrade item in the game so having to use berserker jewels changes the stat combinations. Upgrading to pure ascended trinkets not only increases the base stats, but adds the cavalier upgrade meaning I loose precision to gain toughness. So if you have different jewels on the trinkets than the base stats, it will affect the overall combination.

I would say "every little bit helps."  In other words, there's no real reason NOT to get ascended equipment 'cause you're only doing yourself a favor if you do.

What TwoWays said. Get every advantage possible. The crit damage especially goes up from ascended gear.

I spent all 50 of my laurels + 500 badges for ascended rings. The badges, yeah, I can get those back, but given I can only play 3 days a week, I'll need to play for around 3 months to get my 50 laurels back (not including monthly rewards)
