Mike O'Brian hits the stage. Wants to make this day very memorable today for everyone. Across all MMOs. Gives a brief history of the Living Story.

Confirms most of the Sylvari are corrupted and Pact fleet is destroyed. Going INTO THE MAGUUMA JUNGLE.

Introduces Heart of Thorns Video. Very Hype filling video. Rytlock opens a huge Golden City with strange creatures inside. New monsters by the looks. Terragriffs on 2 leg (ugh). Giant fire breathing monsters, Rytlock stealthed!... new villages, huge zones, flying jetpack looking wings, jungle dinosaurs, and RITUALIST??????? Rytlock summoned a dragon spirit. CONFIRMED EXPANSION PACK!!!!

Mike O'Brian brings up the manifesto video from before launch. By the end of the stream and event, all major features will be introduced. 40 Living World releases since launch so far.

Talking about what will happen from gear treadmill. No new level of gear, No additional levels.

NEW PROGRESSION SYSTEM: Masteries, You will learn and develop new abilities to help survive the jungle. The long you are there, the more you will master.

Group challenges to put to use masteries. Guild progression, character progression. Mike says thanks to all the fans! They do this for us, the gamers. Collin (teh hype master) is coming out on stage to talk about the new features / systems.

Collin Johanson is on stage. Goes over a recap of the Living World (again). New Area: heart of Maguuma. Three distinct biomes, Core/Canopy/?. Glint left us something in the jungle.

New rewards/acheivements/civilizations/abilities.

Masteries are Account-Based PvE progression system. Story/locations/beat challenges and get mastery points to unlock masteries for your account!

You will be able to hanglide via masteries. You will be able to fly higher and farther as you advance.

Spend master points to understand the languages of the old races. Access hidden areas etc by advancing the lore mastery.

Mastery system will allow you to grow abilities to kill new bosses/creatures.

All of these are post level 80 progression.

Masteries will allow you to build out collections/journeys to reward you precursors. New legendary weapons and precursors

Specializations, allow you to master abilities that almost give the feeling of a secondary profession. Rangers could master the abilities of the druids. Allow the use of the staff, new heal, new elite, new utility skills, new profession mechanics. This is one example. Tease of another example, necromancers and greatswords because of their new specialization. More information will be available as we get closer to launch. "When it's ready"

NEW PROFESSION: Revenant (heavy class) with video. Rytlock is a Revenant.

Ability to channel and control the powers of The Mists. Channel abilities into skills and weapons. Channel the powers of old GW legends. King Jalis is an example to channel the power of the dwarves. Demon Mallyx will also to control conditions.

New WvW borderland map to be added to the rotation. Each keep has it's own theme. Holding a keep affects the area around it for your team. Improving the rewards for defending an objective.

sPvP information!!!!

Introducing game mode: Stronghold. Fight for control of supply to higher troops and attack the enemy stronghold. Guild teams, register on a guild leaderboard, and advance up the leaderboard.

Guilds. GUILD HALLS are announced. Guild Hall is more than a home, a place to gather and organize. Grow and progress the guild hall. Organize missions and advances into the guild.

Actually it seems cool. No new race? People are going to be mighty disappointed.

Since I missed the stream im not sure im understanding the mastries thing, but being able to take on something similar to a 2nd class is wicked. Gliding is wicked. Path to precursors is wicked.

Pretty stoked. Now I am wishing I would have woken up early enough for the stream.

You can learn a little (not much) off that site at the end. Should be interesting overall. Don't think there's much discovering of a new race out in the middle of the jungle.

This is true. But there were a lot of people hoping that tengu would become a playable race. Myself I didn't really care either way.

The hype is real ... CHOO CHOO!

While it seems exciting new map(s) going to be released, bought expansion that will have a beta access (according to the FAQ), not sure the WvW centric folks will take it in too well, may not do enough to spice up WvW, depending how many new mechanics they introduce to the new BL map. Meanwhile another gamemode to PvP - not sure how to feel about that. Either way, #hype.

Now the question becomes, when is the release?

Also, at the moment it seems they been working on this for a while ... just waiting on the proper time to talk about it. But *shrugs*

EDIT: HoT Demo will be at PAX East, in 6 weeks.

Too slow Sorrows ... to slow ... become a speeder guardian yo.

But yeah, I was expecting it be more playable near the summer but in 6 weeks? GEEZ I was not expecting that. They must of been working on this for a long while.

Revenant sounds cool. I'm surprised they chose a cool-sounding class name. And specializations is a pretty good idea instead of just giving professions new weapons from the get go.

Any tips on a new MMO with good competitive gameplay?  Anyone in the Camelot Unchained alpha maybe?  I'm usually the first person to defend game developers and the last person to go Doom&Gloom, but it sounds pretty much like they're about to completely ruin the game, so I'd like to start thinking about what to play when this is released sooner than later.

Can I also just say that a lot of those new monsters look rather terrifying. I hope they're fun and challenging to fight as well.

This is actually what I really looking forward too as well. Though I'll probably be majoring in Lore early on and then to combat/gliding.

I'm actually going to help someone do a little research into this later tonight with Majory and her Greatsword in the living story because I can now record game play. :lol:

Mostly we are going to try and get a recording of her attack chain, any unique skills she uses outside of a Auto-attack chain that cannot currently be attributed to a Utility slot and see if there are any Condition effects on the Auto attack chain (An example of this would be Thief Dagger, 3rd hit in the chain inflicts Poison).

If we dig anything up i'll edit this post for you.

Edit Okay a little late but I had a close relative admitted to hospital over the weekend with a heart rate of 155 bpm so exceptions.

It would seem you will be getting Chill on hit applied on the third auto attack chain, Which is actually pretty damn nifty in PvP for keeping the enemy locked in and unable to run away with the -66% run speed constantly being applied and with a -66% timer on your skill cooldowns will make Attrition for a Zerka Necro class a lot easier to maintain.

Granted there will be rocky roads ahead in the category of balance and whatnot - the addition of a whole new class will throw a wrench in the workings of GWII's competitive scene. I'm sure that Anet is plenty concious of this, and will try to avoid making anything overly strong, but honestly I feel that Anet will know they need to be on top of their game with the release of an expansion. I'm sure they're just as scared of the chaos they could inflict on the competitive scene as we may be, so I'd just recommend that you at least come along for part of the wild ride.

Who better to help balance the new material than the competitive players anyway? I'm sure your input and the input of many others will be crucial to helping Anet balance things out. :lol:

Better to have some change than none at all. I heard some people thought there wasn't enough change. I was satisfied the moment I found out there would be at least 1 new weapon added to each character. A new class was WAY more than I had bargained for.
