Full Melee Ranger

KaiX's Photo KaiX 01 Aug 2015

I have a new build for you theorycrafters out there to tear apart!  It's a full melee ranger build just because I want to see if the idea can actually work

LINK:  http://gw2skills.net...muhEOCAkBgZMA-w

So basically my goal with this build is to be able to chase people down via cripple while giving myself might and relying on survival skills to get me out of sticky situations.  I'm not sure if with something this risky I should be going so zerker heavy, maybe knights could be a good alternative for some pieces?  The runes are up to debate as well even though pack are pretty damn awesome.  The sigils as well.

Feedback is welcomed!  Tear it apart!

Looking at your set up am not the same kind of melee ranger...

I run Sword/Torch , Axe/Dagger
Condi+, toughness and vitality (ascended and trinkets as close to this)
Runes...of the trapper (I run 2 traps for speed and stealth, rest is survival abilities healing, lightning reflex and entanglement elite)

Been a week I haven't gone roaming but ive liked small engagements with melee rangers.

You've gone way too all-in on this Cripple idea with the traits.  You've ignored some of the very best new Ranger traits to tunnel vision on Cripple crap.  Clarion Bond and Remorseless are far too strong not to take.  But then you haven't taken Offhand Dagger, which has a ranged Cripple; Offhand Dagger is an overall much more valuable weapon than Warhorn, with the strongest weapon dodge in the game.  With easy permanent Fury and forced crits on your heaviest hitters, Runes of the Pack are pretty redundant; you don't really need much crit chance at all.  Runes of Vampirism are generally the best runes for any build that doesn't directly depend on synergy with a particular rune set.

I played around with a build like this quite a bit right after 23rd June.  It was one of the first builds I tried, because the synergy between Quick Draw, Clarion Bond, Moment of Clarity, and Remorseless is so obvious.  It works reasonably well, and you can do a lot of damage with double Mauls.  (Weapon Swap -> Maul -> Auto Attack -> Hilt Bash -> Swap Pets -> Maul; will 100-0 almost anything if you land it all.)  I posted the build in the earlier Ranger thread.  It's not an optimal build, though; other classes can fill the same role more effectively.

you're running a standard condi ranger.  My build is power based and meant to be up close and personal, that's the only real difference Sanji.

I'll have to admit I really hadn't looked at the ranger traits too much in depth to see the synergies, but my god clarion bond and remorseless, jesus.  That's more than a little crazy.  I would only take warhorn for the swiftness running around but I suppose that could just be a swap in weapon.  Do you have any idea what I could take for sigils on the sword/dagger weapons?  I do suppose I wouldn't need doom because of dagger poison but idk.  I'm still very stuck on that.
