So, I got to play around with Reaper for the first time this weekend. Lots of fun. But I'm curious if necros would be that helpful as frontliners. I know vamp/life-siphon necros were poopoo'd in the past, but what about with the Reaper?
I basically maximized healing power as much as I could with this build while still giving it quite a punch. Basically every skills heals the player, chance to heal on hit, etc.
Power: nearly 2,450
Armor: nearly 2,750
Healing Power: nearly 1,600
Thoughts? Would this be viable? I want to try it out and see.

What it comes down to is your definition of viable in this situation.
Could you make a necro that could survive in the front line? Sure but just its not exactly min maxing the group. Look at what your adding vs what your taking away.
The specific build you linked is a very selfish build without much damage relative to what the front line classes can run with similar amounts of survivability. Its not just the build either, The class by design is a very selfish class but still has strengths which is why its among the most important for any wvw group
.
So what your adding is a build that can basically absorb a bit of damage while its cleaving through enemy groups to heal itself while doing minimal to average damage and a bit of soft CC.
As far as what your taking away, If im being honest it looks like something attempting to take the place of a warrior but it would come up significantly short of what warriors bring to the group. If its just someone thats playing a necro switching from backline to front line your taking away a significant chunk of damage potential from the group.
So if by viable you mean someone who can just run around in the front line, Yeah its viable. If you mean viable as something that would add to the group over other options, then no I wouldn't call it viable.

I don't see necro being any where near a viable front line class.
No invul, no immune, no aoe stab, few stunbreaks and condi clears, no blasts.
Biggest thing though is CC is still gonna eat you up which absolutley cannot happen for frontliners. Sure you could pair with a couple guardians but WTF why not just have 3 guardians and a make your necro kill shit which is what it's really good at.

A frontline build needs to be able to do more than just perpetuate its own existence in the frontline; it needs to actively contribute to the sustenance of the rest of the frontline as well. If you want to make a build like this work, you'd probably get more joy committing a bit more to damage and rebranding it as a midline destroyer, as it does seem to have some heavy hitters and some nice downed cleave.
