Shortly, it's EVE meets Game of Thrones or SWG crafting in Shadowbane (Raph Koster is in team) or... Crowfall IGN Wiki. Access to current tests is kinda expensive, but there will be open beta i.e. free tests just before soft launch in "summer 2017", requiring only registration on site.

Some more info: PvP MMORPG (with RTS/survival feel), sandbox medieval fantasy, procedural terrain generation (it's like playing Tetris!?) with voxel building & destruction, buy to play with optional sub, kickstarted last March and in alpha testing - no NDA, already more than $10M of budget and 150 000+ accounts.

Here is some early (pre-alpha, have mercy!) player made test footage:

PS I'll be checking this if anyone has any questions, comments, anything. Another useful link (besides, of course, the official site) is Crowfall reddit.

This looks maybe-kinda-sorta interesting, but comparing a game to EVE is a giant red flag for me.

Well their kickstarter slogan (last March) was "Game of Thrones meets Eve Online", I guess Eve parallel describes their design goals in PvP, leveling & economy quite well.

Say, progression system is horizontal and quite similar to Eve's - including offline leveling. Also player's identity i.e. account is tied to the crow-spirit and NOT the "body" they play, same as Eve identifies player with pilot and not ships he is flying.

This will include frequent changes of class, race and sex!? In other words, once you die you'll have to fly and find a new body, unless you got friends and/or spare one nearby. Also, bodies can be crafted (or even stolen/ looted in some cases) through necromancy skill - in qualities from white/green to epic or legendary.

There is actually a short comic about that:

The old Imtl and BBQ guys and I have been interested in Crowfall since its kickstart. We tend to go from game to game depending on moods and available game time, but you'll most likely run into us once that launches.

Didn't know about that death mechanic... Haven't checked up on their development vids since around november or so. When ever I read something about EVE, though, it just reminds me of Goon Squad and how much I've enjoyed killing them over the years.

Here is a story behind that comic - it is actually very much connected with economy, lore and classes:

At first (pages 4,5) a knight chooses to serve Malekai, the Lord of Shadows, one of 13 gods. God grants him eternal life and other specific benefits, but the knight is obliged to fight and pillage in Malekai's name - this might include building and maintaining god's statues and tempes (which also cost gold and resources for taxes and maintenance).

After that (pages 1,2,3), on the 47th day of the War of the False Kings, the knight dies and the crow-spirit leaves to fly and find another body (pages 6,7). On the graveyard nearby, the crow finds the corpse of fallen champion, possesses it and walks away to fight for Malekai again.

...and they all lived happily ever after Posted Image :D

There were a few Goons on official forums for a while, I guess that CF is a game they will end up playing once it launches.

I wonder how we're going to fight zergs in the campaigns... They were talking recently about splitting the damage of AoE. O.O

Tomorrow from 8am to 8pm central, the devs and Raph Koster will be live streaming some cool stuff: design reveals, future plans, surprise guest, beat-the-devs playtest, giveaways... should be fun ^^

I updated the OP info, including this video - TheLazyPawn's first impressions of new "Big World" tests. Basically, it's a step from earlier MOBA-like small scale testing towards bigger MMO servers with crafting, gathering etc. - tho building, guilds, character customization/genders are not in tests yet:
