On the bottom right of every post you will fine a blue-ish button that reads "Like This".

The original intent of this feature was to get rid of all the +1 and "me too" spam posts, instead, if you agree with a poster you would just click the "Like This" button and show your agreement/support that way.

Over time the function changed and now you will receive a notification when someone likes your post, and if you like someone's post they will receive a bump in reputation.

Basically the Like This button is yet another way to show someone that you care, appreciate, or agree with what they have posted.  Using the Like This button on a post someone made to contribute useful information to the forum (like the PVP guides, or the ore locations) encourages those members to keep providing this information for the greater good of the community.

Please don't become a Like This spammer but when you do see a post that you appreciate then please make use of the Like This button, it really makes a difference. :)

I'll admit that I "Liked" many posts over the last few days. In my defense, since I'm new, I was reading things from past posts. If I thought it was amusing or helpful, I "liked" it. So, now that I've somewhat caught up on the threads I won't spam like anymore.

Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment. ;)

No worries, just because you liked a bunch of posts doesn't make it Like-This-Spam.  It's all about whether pushing that button is something "meaningful" because you did find the post helpful or entertaining or whether it's just something one does almost automagically.
