I'm aiming for the same thing. I think the idea behind the magic find set is that you are with at least a few other people which will up your chances of survival.

Then get yourselves set up with runes of Pirate on them. Also you should buy some masterwork MF accessories unless you want to drop a lot more silver for rare ones. ADDITIONALLY grab you some MF food. I use peach tarts for about 20 copper each. Omnomberry bars are a good alternative if you want to drop more cash on them.
Step 1:
Go to Curshed Shore and head to Pentinent and Shelter Waypoint and wait for events there.
Step 2:
Find a farming group. Groups killing the mobs with you will increase your overall loot amounts. Trust me.
Step 3:
Farm the events! Pentinent has 3 spawn points for the groups of massive risen. Shelter is a bit easier to farm. I prefer the right side of the camp with the zombies, as usually lots come up in huge groups. (However, if there is not many people there, you can sit in the center of the camp and tag mobs from both sides of the camp as they come in!) The mobs will be dropping 1-2 rares per event, 3-5 greens per event, and 4-5 blues per event on average for my usual experiences.
Step 4:
So now you have all this loot...what do you do with it?
This is the way I do it (Some may disagree and do it other ways), and it usually nets around 2-3 good gold per hour.
-Get a basic salvage it, and salvage all METAL whites and CLOTH whites. VENDOR leather whites as 95% of the time you will make less money from salvaging the leather whites.
-Vendor ALL blues.
-Vendor ALL greens.
-SELL all rares! Note: Some people will say salvage, but I would not. Ectos will sell for the same amount as a rare and it's not even guarenteed to get an ecto (Using Mystic Salvage kits or the rare vendor kits).
Tip : Look at the lowest seller when listing your rare. Look at the highest buyer. DO NOT sell/list a rare on the TP for less than 13 silver unless the lowest seller is around that. Typically, the lowest sellers will be around 15s or something and the highest buyer will be like 10 silver. In these cases, I would list the rare for about 13 - 13.5 silver. It will sell!
NOTE AGAIN: You will hit DR (Diminishing Returns) eventually! In this case, your average loot will go down and so will your gold per hour. You may want to take a break for an hour or two, or go do something else while it resets. From my experiences, noticeable DR happens after about 1 hour of farming! You want to keep farming? Sure, go ahead! But your gold per hour will most likely be going down to 1 - 2 gold per hour or so, compared to the normal 2 - 3 gold per hour.
Step 5:
Orch farming. One trip of orichalcum farming will net me around 1-1.5 gold. That's a lot! Check out the thread in general discussion here for locations and maps of the locations. I do my orichalcum node runs every morning at the same time and they're reset by then.
Also, http://michadia.imgur.com/ will have updated maps for orch locations here on Ehmry bay typically. He also usually posts them in the thread in general discussion.
I hope this guide helped you guys! Took me about 30 minutes to type up

The three of us here can test this out and see how we fare. I volunteer jhon as meat shield so I can take popshots from a distance.
Another thing i was considering if the ratio of blues to better stuff is high, we can try using the forge to increase our profits.

I personally don't bother wearing magic find armor. Instead, I use magic find foods.
Anyway, in that little area of the map you will often find people farming "the cannon event". That is where a group of npc's march over to a sight outside the entrance to the temple. They will stop, and soon enough the event will be to defend the group of npc's while they set up their cannon. If you just pause and not defend them, they will soon die from the waves of undead. Once that krewe is dead, it is very important that no one rez's them. As long as they remain dead, the waves of undead will keep generating. The mobs that appear will be much easier to kill than the typical enemies you face in the cursed shore because they will have much less health. Fortunately, they still drop the same loot. People also often post guild magic find flags there. As long as no one rez's the dead krewe members then you can farm that event for hours.
If you end up with someone that does manage to kill all of that fun by rezing them, then you can still farm the mobs in the travel event leading to the temple, and once you get to the contested temple, there's still undead, ice golems and shades that spawn aaaaalll over inside the temple. Beware though, the shades inflict stacks of an inextirpable condition that can easily kill you. It can only be removed by waiting for it to go away.
I also agree with Ugly Ducky on things to sell, all except for rare items. I'm the type that salvages and gambles. I would collect your rare and exotic items that you've looted and record potential prices on them if you had sold them on the trading post. I would also compare those prices to the present value of ectoplasm.
When you salvage rare and exotic items with high quality salvage kits, you have a good chance of getting anywhere between 0-4 ectos, plus any sigils, rare materials and runes they have.
So determine whether or not it's a good enough gamble to salvage a rare/exotic item to get more money. Analyzing the difference in selling price of the items and selling price of one or two potential ectos. If the item is lower than the value of just one ecto then I'd probably salvage it.
Hopefully that makes sense... If it doesn't, just let me know and I can just show you where to go and what to do
I salvage and gamble it without a lot of fear pretty much because I know I can just go back and farm the event more. I mean my inventory gets full fairly rapidly when doing the cannon event.
Another thing I suggest is aoe damage... As much as you can bring to the table. The more enemies you hit, the more odds you have of getting a drop. Especially with how squishy those mobs are.

Of course, fractals are darn good money-makers now that they are up and running. Dungeons (COF/AC) are even better. But those assume that you have a group (gw2lfg.com is your friend).
