Ranger Beat-Em Thread

Removing the points in Skirmishing removes the "trapper" aspect of it, making the build more defensive as the traps allowed you to really stick it to someone (I got 17+ seconds of chill when using skills and frost trap).
I'm looking into doing this right now though:
http://gw2skills.net...eWhD9PELvgLu6oK
I mainly fight with the Axe+Dagger with the Greatsword to save my butt primarily with #3 an #4 and allow me to better chase with #3.
Since you can't go condition duration and get 100% swiftness on Ranger (that requires +90% boon duration, 20% better offhand cooldown, and a horn), and I roam a good bit, I wanted to incorporate Signet of the Hunt. I now have 2 stunbreakers and 2 condition removers and quite a bit more mobility.
I'm still able to keep chill on targets as well, I just don't have burning damage and I can't stop an entire zerg dead in their tracks with a frost trap (though I could swap in muddy terrain).
I'm really enjoying this build. It punishes melees more than anyone else. I need to figure out how to best play against heavy ranged foes though ... some gave me problems and forced me to run with greatsword leap the heck out of there.

Mesmer has so many tricks and things that scale to "infinitely many" for zerg fights (i.e. feedback, traited focus, veil).
On the other hand, Ranger has their own sort of tricks, will hopefully be getting some more pet AI love, and can be a tanky SoB via the regen builds, etc.

so if I understand correctly rangers don't have much of a place in a zerg?
Or are the roaming builds just much better for rangers in WvW in general and if you want to zerg you should pick a different class?

-coming soon lolz i'm at work-
30(IV,IX,XI-0-30(VI,X,XII)-10(VI)-0 Ults:Healing Spring,Signet of the Wild,Stone,Renewal,&Call of the Wild
Pets:Brown Bear/Eagle Weapons: Zerker GS, Zerker Longbow Trinkets: Celestial(precision/vit infusions)
Armor: Rampager Runes:Travelers
Main strategy is to pew pew with your longbow from longrange with the zerg keeps some aoe. The greatsword helps in running along the zerg and keeping up the melee. If you are inside a tower, trade out your ults for survival skills(muddy terrain/sharpening stone/lightning reflexes) and traits (III,VII,X)(IV,IX,XI)(VI). Many instances of defending tower just long enough for the help to arrive with just this setup, even as far as pushing them out and having them run away. Anyways thats what i run instead of the meta of just having 1h weapons with apothecary gear. =D

Yeah actually. Running 0/0/30/30/10 atm but thinking of switching to 10/0/30/30/0 instead. Very effective and the tankiest build on any class I've ever played with.

also I like celestial for ranger because you can go from offensive to defensive just changing a few traits and skills.

1. I don't like to spend money, because I am poor.
2. I have no bag space because I hoard, and also I am poor.
But I will admit that being mediocre at everything pretty much defines my play in GW2.

Using the runes we were on about earlier Menorah?
Though if i'm honest I think i'll stick with Traveler because I drop conditions to quickly if I'm fighting well to benefit from it more.

Nah, using Forge for this one. It's meant more as a tanky setup for solo'ing upgraded camps and surviving multiple thieves. I put on the new runes after I talked to you, and it's been amazing. Killed a terrormancer necro and another with a dueling spec which is just about impossible to do in their current state right now if they are playing correctly. Very happy with the new ones at the moment.
Also I don't see a thief benefitting from them as much as something like a ranger/engineer/necro (possibly mesmer because of lack of condition removal).
