That was an epic fight. It was also quite long. My fights on my necro also seem to go a long time unless I'm fighting someone without condition removal. This made me wonder if I was doing it wrong (at least the "burst" part). Maybe I'm doing okay.

Generally speaking, when a fight goes on that long, both players cycle through major cool downs... essentially "reseting" the match. I couldn't tell what the fight turned on... any insight? It's hard to tell, as the feed appears a little jerky at times.

I don't main my necro, so I'm not an expert. The fight did give me some ideas... your skills are on CD a lot more than mine. I'm wondering if I'm holding back too much.

Anyway, here's the build that I settled on based upon this thread. No dire armor, as it wasn't around at the time I got the equipment. Also, I get permanent swiftness outside of combat by quick swapping in warhorn.

http://gw2buildcraft...|3r.48.46.0.0|e

Hopefully, the link works. This is one of four 80s that I have so I have to spread the ascended equipment around...

Thanks for sharing.

the build should work just as well as the one I use.

also yes this duel was very long. one of the longest duels my necro has been in.
that being said the ele has great condi clear as you can see. I was rarely able to keep my bleed stacks on him for more than a few seconds before he cleared them so now that the condi meta was in full swing people have learned how to clear conditions efficiently. so that makes our job that much harder.

also Yes I could have just ran the meta build and used sig of spite but thats no fun lol

I will try to get a vid of me vs all classes up soon.

I finally got to watching the videos. I have concluded that you are a bit better on your necromancer than I am. Mine is one of my less played characters, and it I think it shows.

As I mentioned above, I noticed that your skills are on CD a lot more often than I mine (i.e., I hold back more on using my skills, and you seem to let them fly more freely). I assume that your goal is to maximize condition pressure by using as many condition skills as possible (per unit time). Other than the condition transfers (Staff 4 and Dagger 4), are there any skills that you hold back for the purpose of countering (or any other reason)? or, do you mostly look at skills on CD as untapped potential.

in a duel I usually hold back my golem rush.

and yes I have gotten used to how my necro plays so I tend to be a bit aggressive at times. I want them to waste their time clearing the condi I can put out before they worry about hitting me. if you can see the duels I have vs the ele, most of the time its just him going back and clearing every 9-12 seconds.this warr didnt even have time to react to my conditions http://www.twitch.tv...karot/c/3439319

You still taking "Weakening Shroud"? Otherwise, build is working well for me. So well, that necro may not be my worst character anymore...

for duels I cant see why you wont use it. its a free bleed each time you go into ds.

Im glad this build is working for you.

Guess I am not liking the 2s duration on weakness... but the bleed is nice. Maybe I'll move Spectral Attunement to that slot if they make it an Adept power.

Back on my necro. Any tips against Diamond Skin Ele's?

Is it anything more than make sure you have flesh golem slotted, spend extra time on DS auto attack, and possibly use Staff 4 for extra power damage (if needed)?

The only time I have faced a dimond skin ele I was roflstomped lol
on the second go I swapped out all my utilities for minions lol, I got him below 90% fast and my conditions just ate him up.

but aside from that in dire/rabid gear I just dont have the direct damage to offset their regen/healing.

Well that's unfortunate. With Carrion/Rabid gear, Spectral Armor, Spectral Attunement, and Flesh Golem... I was able to stay in Death Shroud long enough, and do enough damage, to get my conditions to stick on a DS Ele who was worse at their class than I am on necro. From there, I had to hope I didn't miss any tarted AoEs.

However, I just finished salvaging the last of my carrion gear, so I guess I will have to use all my awesome mobility to escape...

Still using this basic build under the new patch. It is quite a bit stronger IMO.

I am now running 0/30/20/20/0 like the OP. Spectral battery spec I was running is fine, but all the game changes (and opponent composition) favors a greater focus on corrupting boons (via traits + utility) and transferring more conditions (e.g., via dagger recharge reduction).

I highly recommend watching the OPs videos in this thread. You will see that one key to playing this build is to get in a rhythm where are pretty much dumping Staff 2,3 and Scepter/Dagger AA,2,5 on CD to keep up a baseline of condition pressure. This will usually draw out the opponent's condition-cleans (or it will kill them outright). Time your bursts for when you are transferring conditions, corrupting boons, interrupting with fear...
