I was there, Zygen. Obviously the toughest part is avoiding the teleport/one-shot and dpsing hard enough to beat the heals. Although I wish I knew if there was something that triggers that heal or a way to stop it. It seems pretty random at the moment. During one attempt, we had the Risen Priest down to about 5%, 3 seconds later he was at 50%. I think everyone's heart sank at that point. I'll look around and see if I can figure it out by searching around some forums, but man is this an annoying fight for such a desired vendor.

I tried a couple of attempts that same day wanted to test it out with less people as I read online that its possible with 4-6 and the extra champion doesnt spawn also is less likely to bug.

I think that would be impossible unless in the we hours or something because everyone knows when its getting attacked.  I had to just transfer to magumma for the evening since they had a temple open.

Also you have the people that don't want to respawn :(

I did Grenth last night...it took forever and seemed like one of the simpler ones. I don't think people pay attention to what they're supposed to be doing and then get mad that the event fails. We started with a really large group and it shrunk considerably after each fail. I believe there were about 8 fails.

I was hoping to open the temple of Lyssa but cannot imagine getting enough smart people for that. I just bought the gear I wanted at Grenth.

What are the mechanics of the Balthazar fight? Just watch out for the one hit kill skill?

It is a basic protection event, though with each pact member that falls you lose like a 1/8 of the bar so you can have about 6 deaths or so before it fails. your escorting the pact to the cathedral while waves of risen are attacking from all sides a lot different then most escort missions. That is because they attack from the rear the sides and they spawn one after the other. It is an easy mission if people

1. pay attention to their sector
2. pull risen from the crowd so as to ensure a pact member doesn't get KO
3. if they die they rez and run back

Major fails for this mission are usually before you even get to the priest because people are not paying attention(not rezing if fully dead) and the risen kill pact members quickly so losing focus is not an option.

Whenever I run the escort, I always make sure to stay behind the pact members. I can generally hold off the risen waves that pop behind solo until the rest of the group finishes off what's in front/to the sides. Another problem is they (the pact members) like to run after every mob they see often running backwards and making the escort take even longer.

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A battle is raging inside me ... it is a terrible fight between two wolvOPosted Imagene wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The old man fixed the children with a firm stare. "This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee replied: "The one you feed."

I'll see if I can rally people again tonight, last night was painful when he reset on us. Especially after we had to drag the pact to the champ giant to get them killed because that part was bugged.

Figures there'll be an organized attempt at this the night my power is out. Badass storm last night destroyed my canopy in the back yard and took down some telephone poles. Ah well if power comes back on before 6 pm pacific I'll head to straits.

I hope that we can get to a point where we actually have a number of "leaders" who are comfortable taking a raid to complete these events and we do them on a regular schedule.  I am just making this up but let's say every second Thursday at whatever time.  Put it on the calendar too.

People are of course free to run the event on their own at any time but an event scheduled well in advance will provide those with limited playtime a way to schedule their RL around the event and get to enjoy the GW2 content that would ordinarily not be open to them.

Thanks for the heads-up Zygen! I'll stick around out here and try to defend it for a while.

Thuley, a lot of people in my guild have been asking to do Balth at a set time during the week, so maybe we can work something out.

It would be good if you could post a separate thread about it since this one has evolved into a discussion rather than an actual event scheduling.  That way folks can quickly see when and at what time the run will happen.

Something like "NOV 2, 7 pm EST, Temple of Balthazar" as topic title would be good.  Maybe add a calendar event for it too.  Still looking into ways to automatically create a calendar event from a post if a checkbox is checked.

Also, wth, how did you end up with 1.3M karma, that's just .... crazy ....

I check the Temple on my map frequently every single day I am on. I don't have an extraordinarily large sum of karma because of this, but I've been itching to spend what I've got again. Stupid shards.
