Name: Reina Takayama
Class: Mesmer
Story: Hailing from the kingdom in the far west, the Takayama clan once took over and lorded over a mighty area of land, brought its soil to prosperity and its people to fortune. Despite warring factions and conflicts on fronts, their territory was on a defensible strategic location and held sturdy ground over the centuries; its walls never failed to stand. As a result, there were great numbers of loyal followers and servants of their noble bloodline, their tribe was unified. Their impregnable forces and secluded location soon became that of a myth and they were mostly left alone. Though they stood strong, under Usoku's rule and under its new successors, used to their pacifist lifestyle, their numbers were thinned and their fortresses began to crumble. Like many others, the remaining Takayama escaped towards Tyria.
Reina Takayama's family and its followers were lucky enough to take shelter in Divinity's Reach in Kryta where they still had several close friends within the Ministry. Soon after, they found safe work amongst the noble class. And hence, Reina was born under the protection of the Queen and the royal guards and became a favourite amongst the nobles with no knowledge of the Takayama heritage.
She became a studious, careful and quiet girl, always putting manners ahead of her. Despite her timidness, she once found herself lost outside of the royal grounds thereby befriending several neighbourhood children. From then on, she was often dragged on adventures throughout the massive city with her friends.
She never left the city and was refused the chance to join the military fronts to practice her magic, her father believing that she needed more time to develop her practical smarts. Her older sister however, was rebellious and bold and always snuck out of the city and adventured alone. She was stalwart to her studies under the Seraph guard and soon joined the front as a guardian. Reina would often envy her sister's stories and dreamed of taking up the sword.
She soon had the opportunity however, as when she turned nineteen, her sister disappeared while patrolling with her unit. Much to everyone's dismay, no trace of their entire unit was found. The family had to deal with the tragic loss but her father had second thoughts. Soon, her father became wrapped up into a complicated entangle of Ministry politics and affairs. Against the knowledge of the Ministry and the Queen, her father seeking justice, began to investigate into matters himself, awakening a new grudge against the Takayama. Reina was of course, oblivious to everything but her studies but would notice her father's troubling expressions and her mother's tension.
Two weeks before she turned twenty, her parents were found murdered in their bed, a silent unnatural death with no struggle or blood shed. She was never allowed to see them for a last time, but instead charged by her godfather, a Ministry official, with the fault of her family's deaths. Although Queen Jennah and the Shining Blade attempted to protect her, somehow evidence had turned against her and threw her into the hands of the Seraph.
She fled Divinity's Reach immediately too broken to fight for her innocence, traumatized and in tears, her life suddenly flipped upside down. No longer was she protected within the walls and courtyard of the nobility and for weeks, she yearned for her own death. A friend of hers, now a keeper of a farmstead, took her in and amongst the common folk, Reina adapted new perspectives.
However, any peace was short lived as the Seraph had been dispatched to hunt her down. Through the lands of Kryta and the rest of Tyria she began to take on a new life, discover her strength and seek the truth behind her parents' deaths and her sister's disappearance.
