Hitler was a brilliant painter, but he couldn't capture emotion... Just saying.

From wiki, under "Critical Analysis":

According to the weekly news magazine LIFE, which featured Hitler and his paintings in 1936 and 1939, Hitler painted hundreds of works. Some thought Hitler's painting skill was poor; for example because he rarely painted people, the cause of which was speculated by LIFE to be either his unwillingness or lack of skill. His paintings are preoccupied with architecture such as public places, buildings, and farmhouses. Others, however, concluded he "had a modicum of talent." One modern art critic was asked to review some of his paintings without being told who painted them and judged them "quite good". The different style in which he drew human figures, however, the critic said, represented a profound disinterest in people.[10]
According to a report entitled The Water Colours of Hitler: Recovered Art Works: Homage to Rodolfo Siviero, prepared by Fratelli Alinari, Hitler's water colours prove he was "grim" as a painter.[1]

Have you seen his paintings? They are, in a technical sense, very well executed. He just did not know how to capture emotions in humans. Which is why his architectural drawings were much better, they don't require human emotions. They could be technical and cold. The first time I saw one of his paintings I was very very surprised.

But now we are just getting off topic.

If it isn't Escher, Giger, Van Gogh, or a gingerbread house, I don't like it and it says "The people who have prints of this on the back of their door would annoy you and you would be motivated to return to their home with a bunch of dynamite strapped to a mess of weasels so as to create a meat geyser in their hallway.".

I'm against it in most games. Expansions upon expansions. Never ending uselessness. All that being said, why do you want to 'solve' a game. Why do you want to perfect it? I dont. Thats not fun to me. I like trying new things. I like mixing things up. I'm not talking about clutter. I'm a designer. I know aaaaaaaaallllll about less is more. Elegance of the simple. Trust me. (Trust me, I'm the doctor).
I don't want to solve the game.  I want the game to be complex enough that no one can realistically solve it.  Guild Wars 2 already is.  The point is that, if Guild Wars 2 were "nearly solved", then there would be a good reason to add more complexity to prevent the game degenerating into mere memorisation and execution, with no need for genuine strategy or tactics.  Since there's already no real risk of that happening any time in the foreseeable future, however, there isn't any real reason to add more complexity.  Furthermore, though I don't want to be able to solve the game, I do want to be able to play the game as optimally as I possibly can, and adding another layer of complexity to the gameplay halfway through would basically set us back to square one on that and nullify all the progress the competitive community has made.  And that's without even touching the balance problems that it would create.

The thing you MUST realize though Slein, everyone is not you. Not everyone is like you. Not everyone plays like you. Not everyone thinks the same way you do. Players enjoy games for many many many different reasons. I like game games because STUFF. I like games because PRETTY. You seem to like them for the mathematical challenge of figuring out how they tick and how to perfect it.
Everyone is exactly like me in a sense, though; we all like games because FUN.  The problem is that most players are really bad at identifying what will make a game more or less fun in the long term.  They don't think about the knock-on effects down the line.  If you design a game around "what the majority of players ask for on the forums", you'd make a terrible game.

Well Amen to that. I dunno how many times I've had to tell a client, NO. We are not putting flashing brightly colored rainbow kitties that fly around the screen in your website. No matter how much you think it will look cool. (OK I've never had a client actually ask me for that, but you remember the flash intro, flash menu fad? NO NO NO NO NO!) :)

You know the expension will be new WvW map mixed with PvE content?

They will release 3-4 new maps designed for WvW like silverwaste and in those maps, all silvari will be enemy players trying to stop the other races from reaching Mordremoth. The closer we get to the dragon, the harder it gets. If you get wiped out on a map, you get pushed back on the previous one.

That would be a great event for me :)

What a surprise, to see a desire for more EotM-style crap to reduce WvW population even more.

I'd rather have Elona - I enjoyed Nightfall more than Factions, and the Crystal Desert is RIGHT THERE...

I'm sure Anet will give us Elona in due time, but Cantha is still very uncertain considering how views on "mixing" different East Asian cultures have affected the game in the past. Apparently they get offended when you mix Japanese, Chinese, and Korean culture to create something fictional (allegedly the reason why we got the "great collapse" instead of a Canthan-style district was because someone at NCSoft didn't like their Cantha district for "mixing the cultures," especially the architecture), even though historically there was a large amount of cultural mixing and borrowing in East Asia (and everywhere in the world, for that matter). It seems they have no problem mashing together many European cultures to do the same thing with Ascalon and Kryta, however.

We'll hopefully get Elona and the Crystal Desert after HoT since I want more arid/desert landscapes to explore and I think it's a good idea to finish the Destiny's Edge payback against Kralkatorrik instead of leaving it hanging between vanilla GW2 and several more expacs.

I'm actually worried about tomorrow for A-nets sake, The hype threads and train has gone so far now there is no way they can include everyone's expectations even if it is the Expansion people have theorized and I really hope the fans can keep this in mind and not go completely off the rails whatever the announcement is. :s

Anyway new weapons or addition of existing weapons to classes would be nice but I won't cry over the lack of them. (People seem to think that Pole-Arm will become a weapon but I'm not to sure that wasn't just a Trident or Staff wielded differently in the trailer.)

Or indeed, just a cutscene that doesn't indicate anything about what players will get in the future.

Not super huge announcement. Seems awesome. Now we'll have to wait for more detailed information. Overall looks awesome, but no date or how it will be launched.
