Unfortunately unless they rework the minion AI, spirit weapons would be a cool but less that useful skill type. Shouts would be great, especially if they brought back the orders from GW1, although given the way Anet has given Necro's their skill set in the past, it could also be something personal, like stances or some new thing. I saw an interesting theory that touch skills could come back which would definitely fit the melee greatsword thing Anet is making for the Necro.

With Stances I put a post in the forums about my view of them, If Necromancer gets Stance skills that doesn't necessarily mean that they will be Selfish skills. People are suggesting that Necro will get Stance skills because of the dialog with Majory about learning battle stances from Rox while training for Greatsword.

First with this theory I want to points out that A-net seem to have a thing for Necromancer skills needing some form of Sacrifice, Epidemic makes the user Vulnerable, Blood is Power bleeds the user. Poison Cloud Weakens the user and Corrupt Boon poisons you for example. Take a hit, to deal a bigger hit if you will now that made me think remember in the Livestream when they said "Necromancer likes to be hit"? So would it be so impossible to have Stance skills that will grant buffs to the user and allies or main the aggressor each time the Necromancer is hit while it's duration is running?

It would seem to fit both A-nets view point that a Necromancer will like being hit and would fit the Sacrifice theme that we have going. Perhaps as some example a stance that when active will grant the user and nearby allies a stack of Might, Fury and Retaliation each time the Necromancer is struck?

But then if this were true could we also then assume that the Necromancer Greatsword would gain a Taunt? Or perhaps the Stance themselves would be taunts? :sleepy:  I don't know how right or wrong I can possibly be here but I would find this an interesting angle to play

Edit - I would like to also point out that this type of skill does already exist in one form, Warrior heal "Defiant Stance" where you are healed for the damage you would normally take while it is active.

All of your examples of "sacrifice" in Necro skils are Corruption skills, which is just one class of utility available to Necros.  Corruption skills by definition inflict a cost on the user, but Necros have plenty of other types of utilities, and the whole point is that they're getting a new one.  Similarly, Necros benefitting from being hit applies specifically to Spectral skills.

Shouts it is: https://www.guildwar...specialization/

Dat pull-n-chop at the end. I foresee my adorable little necro getting a lot more exercise.

Can't format on my phone. Incoming necro zerg builds with Runes of the Trooper, perma aoe chills, and scythe sweeps in the middle of zergs.

If they should run Trooper I'd judge it on the cooldowns of the shouts themselves - if they are longer cooldowns I'd feel more comfortable running wells and hoelbrak, because frontline necro.

I actually believe that this is the first time that i have seen more than 1 positive thread on the Necro Forums. While the reaper seems to be countered by CC and blinds, it does also look promising, giving some mobility, good cleave, LF generation, and AoE presence.

More interested in the proposed Blood Magic changes than the Reaper   Not sure if that is a good thing.

Anyhow The Reaper, Impression?... Ehh..~ People are overestimating it. If the Blood Magic changes are good for me I won't run it.

Thematically, it's awesome, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Mechanically...have to wait and see. It sounds like there's a lot of potential, but I take some issue with them deliberately making it slow and ponderous. (And still no active blocks.)
