I met a returning player yesterday and started getting asked questions about the expansion and Specializations and he asked me about the Warrior Specialization and this triggered a little idea in my head.

As he pointed out the Warrior cannot get to many more weapons that would make sense so what would happen then would they get Scepters? Foci? An idea we concluded could be that Warrior's would maintain their current weapon sets but the Skills on a selected weapon would change for future Specializations and maybe even the current one.

Anyway I thought I would just speculate on this in the open a bit to see what people thought and after seeing the reaction of Guardian's and Traps in their forums so people could absorb the idea a little in case we are right to limit the fire that would engulf the forums. :P

Still think warriors are getting off hand pistol..

Overall I think the guard specialization looks fun and unique. It's by no means (current) meta in PvE which actually kinda what makes me happy and probably pisses the most people off. People seem to think Elite specs are the end all, best option available. They're not supposed to be, just variety. The name (which has taken alot of heat today) could be better, but it's really not that bad. People say Valkyrie, but that's too gender specific for my taste. It's by no means a Paragon type specialization. Time will tell, I'll have to watch the steam from tomorrow a little late.

Time for a little weary headed harmless speculation, Theory crafting & Wishful hopes.

So before I sleep I was thinking earlier about Specializations like normal and Necromancer and Engineer. Now I know this may upset my fellow Necromancer but I would actually prefer it if our Class didn't get the Defiance Bar that A-net talked about.

Personally I think Engineer should get the Defiance Bar as some form of elite. (Combat Chassis?) And it Necromancer is to get Shouts and become the "Banshee" I was hoping more along the lines of a sustained AoE Boon rip as a "Screech".

Basically to give an example any of you whom have played a human character will recall having an Elite "Reaper of Grenth" what this Elite skill does is periodic pulses that give out an AoE Chill/Poison effect each time to enemies. What I would in-vision as our new Class Mechanic as a Banshee would be similar but with a similar effect to the skill of the Necromancer Focus called "Spinal Shivers" (Chill target, remove up to 3 boons with additional damage for each boon removed).

I have high hopes for the Necro spec, but I far as I can see, Necro could go either way, depending on whether Anet answers at least the base problems with Necro in everything except WvW. However, I don't just want every Necro to have to choose the spec in order to access the profession at it's fullest so hopefully there will be a balance of general buffs to Necro and a somewhat broad niche for the spec to occupy. :-/

Shouts could definitely work, though I'm also thinking spirit weapons. Thematically, it could be made to fit; Marjory's sister's soul is bound to her sword because that's not creepy, and IIRC, Saladbowl Caladbolg has some sort of sylvari essence/spirit in it.

Unfortunately unless they rework the minion AI, spirit weapons would be a cool but less that useful skill type. Shouts would be great, especially if they brought back the orders from GW1, although given the way Anet has given Necro's their skill set in the past, it could also be something personal, like stances or some new thing. I saw an interesting theory that touch skills could come back which would definitely fit the melee greatsword thing Anet is making for the Necro.
