In the Philippines' last presidential election in 2010, there were 10 people running for president, and the guy who came in second place is the same former president we ousted via revolution in 2001 on charges of plunder. :/. I won't even start talking about the amount of vote-buying and propaganda involved xD

I personally think for ppl who love lore it makes sense to vote Kiel to defend the lore of LA and try and move it along in its original intentions, direction and vision since fractals is just a small contained little thing almost like a bribe that doesn't have an impact on the real game and lore lol but then again LA might be interesting if Evon won anyway

Some dev dropped a red post on the forums about how Evon might be interested in the Fall of Abaddon for religious reasons and ya know what? That sounds more interesting than some asura explosion. We might have a Char here who wants to use abaddon's powers for evil. I'll take that over another festival living story update.

I'm with @Palerider in that, this is a game. I don't think they'll go quite as in depth as you guys are with their changes. They can't run Lion's Arch into the ground because it's Lion's Arch and Evon wont be the only person on the council who gets to make decisions.

He's not going to be like, TAX ALL THE CITIZENS! and it'll happen, he'll be like, TAX ALL THE CITIZENS and the rest of the council will be all, whoa, why are you shouting? Sit down silly char.

I think he's talking about people who played the first game and really love the lore of the world, and not just the general living story/gw2 lore.

Um.. I really don't think this election will have any long-term meaningful effect whatsoever. They promise to finance the research for  either fractal to be available by the end of the year, but as far as I can tell Anet is working on both of them. So we'll probably get one fractal first and the other one later at some point.

I don't think many people care much for Black Lion Keys or Waypoint cost (unless you're like me and RNG pisses you off).

So it's pretty much down to the personalities and actual value of the person.

That's pretty much his back story and it doesn't make him look all nice and fluffy. Basically Evon is only looking out for himself. I would not be surprised if - elected or not - he one of these days sells out Lions Arch to the highest bidder. And while plundering and stealing has been traditionally pirate's way there's also a thing called pirate's code. By witch betrayal of the brotherhood is most heinous crime.

So please be my guest vote for him and remember that you have brought whatever he's planing on yourself.

While you guys have ur valid thoughts and opinions, Anet HAS made it clear (somewhere i forgot where) that the election WILL affect things in the future, not just an immediate gameplay thing, or even a longer term game play thing but it will actually affect the rest of the living story development.

And reading that link, yeah, makes me realize how horrible it would be to have him on the council lol, this isn't the original vision/ideals, values, intentions of Lion's Arch. Marriner, fought with his life against tyrannical, money-focused, violent etc etc kinds of people, to make a safe haven kind of place led by noble hearted sailors, not a city ran by criminals and pirates

Ideally I would hope that both fractals are released at some point. And considering they have the idea for them, I don't see why the loser couldn't be part of another fractal update. Maybe it won't be by the end of the year like the winner, but there needs to be more variety.

On that note, while I know the Abbadon thing is a big thing for gw1 fans I don't see why the Thaumanova Reactor couldn't be interesting as well. It was some sort of Inquest experiment, I assume (with all the different branches in the reactor) that there could be some Elder Dragon studies involved in there. If not the Elder Dragons, perhaps some relation to the Asura PS with the steam creatures (considering the resulting explosion cause a rift and ports things in and out).

Other than that, most of the other stuff the two are promising are negligible, but if I had to have one, I'd rather have the WP costs reduced because I use them more often. Honestly, if I wanted keys, I would make an alt and farm them. However, the loot they give is meh, killstreak booster, revive orb, woo hoo...! And then both of them give us Crab Toss and Southsun stuff. I didn't think I'd be seeing karkas ever again...

Then there are the characters themselves. We have Gnashblade who for the most part I don't think we've really seen him until he wanted to win the council position (although he's been sitting in LA) and the we have Kiel who has been a hard working Lion Guard defending the city from threats. Character wise I'd rather have Kiel in that position than Gnash, I just went through an investigation to keep some sneaky scheming pirate and the rest of her crew from getting a position on the council, I'm not going to turn around and choose some greedy sneaky man who I don't know much about aside from the fact he runs the BLTC. I don't care what fractal he gives us, I'm not going to let that sway me.

I have a theory or rather my Mesmer has a theory about all of this that is probably completely wrong and I should know better.

But could Evon be the Aetherblades benefactor? The Aetherblades attacked the Captains council and killed one if it's members while Evon wishes for a seat. Aetherblades are using highly expensive and rare equipment for a group of pirates who's apparent motivation was also to try and claim a seat on the council if I have been informed correct?

These pirates who at the same time allied with the Inquest if the same said things I have been told are correct a group who are believed to be in some way related to Thaumanova Reactor incident whatever that may have been an incident Kiel was going to investigate if she comes into power which Evon will not in favor of investigating the fall of a god already well documented while it has been stated the "Charr have/believe in no gods?".

I will leave you to ponder as I ponder is Evon GW2's version of Dr Evil? Or for Reina to come in and pokes holes in my pitiful lore knowledge whichever comes first.

I am no lore expert lol I just read the novels LOL and researched some lore haha I guess I know more about gw2 lore and don't know that much aside from what can be researched about gw1

And I have no comments about ur theory lol we  don't really know much about Evon and he hasn't appeared much other than afk in TP. But Evon could be the sort of character to do that xD and I like ur reactor connection... Anet is making it relatively clear Evon is supposed to represent the "dark side"

I forgot where I read about it but there's also a theory Evon is researching Aba for something (sinister? Power/magic/idk?) I forgot lol

You can't rule out Evon backing the aetherbaldies. He's just the guy who would have dealings with anyone who would pay.

Though I don't think the "the man behind the curtain". In the dungeon Mai referenced some Cathrine (or some other female name beginning with a C or a K - can't remember exactly) so it would seem that is the main Aetherblades boss.

I have a feeling that if Evon does get elected, the next or an upcoming Story will be about him being corrupt or something...which is why I'll totally vote for him!
