I would like to voice my support for Lexxguard's plan. why start a new teamspeak server, when one already set up and in place is available. especially one associated with a notable guild such as Para.

This issue was already settled I thought, but it was apparent in mapchat last night that there is a distinct move to fracture what community we have left.  I am not sure what the motivations are, but that is beside the point.

The thing is, it's not really a new teamspeak server from the user's perspective when it's the same database and URL as the current one.  We have been drumming ts.ehmry.com into people's heads for a very, very long time now.  I see no compelling logical reason to change it.  This will drive a wedge into our communications across guilds, maps, and commanders.  This will create confusion for the casual users that only pop into WvW occasionally as well, and these are the very people we need to be reaching to get them motivated.  

While PARA is free to do what they wish with their TS, I would implore them to consider the full ramifications of their action here and the potential to fracture what is left of our community with unnecessary politics and change.

We are not setting up a new one according to the plan..we are transferring ownership to the existing one to Thuly back filling for admin support if required.

I think Lexxguard is awesome for making the suggestion. However, I generally agree that we should try to focus on the old TS address/database while it's still active.

It doesn't entire make sense to have TS owned by someone that doesn't play the game. The organization and security of the TS really fell off over the past few weeks/months. People have stopped verifying users and there's a bunch of old moderators that are just spamming the tags in the channels. If were going to keep using the old one some serious clean up needs to happen and moderation needs to become tighter.

Actually, I rather like the idea of Thuley running the TS back-end.  It makes perfect sense if you consider that he is free from the internal politics of EBay and the ever-shifting player dynamics  If nothing else, he is incredibly unlikely to bandwagon on over to SoS like everyone else has.  He has been perfectly reasonable and responsible with our forums, and I hold that it is precisely because he doesn't play that he is able to stay so calm and objective even when we are in the middle of a heated argument.  In that light, it is an absolutely ideal situation.

But yes, I agree that TS needs be cleaned up quite a bit.  The number of channels we have now is staggering compared to the number of actual users on it at primetime.  Verification of users and policing is the job of the TS admins, of which we have many.  Drakma was absolutely correct when he brought that up repeatedly.

Another good reason to use the Para Teamspeak server. No need to go through and clean it out. Channels and tags can just be added as needed.

I think what you gain in time saved by not cleaning up the original server is going to be outweighed by the time lost educating people to stop using the original and start using the new one.  Thuley runs these forums without playing the game by entrusting his admin(s) to do the heavy lifting.  The same can be done for the TS server.  Nuke it down to default and start over if that's what you need.  The only difference is that a "Nuetral" party will be CEO of the TS instead of a single guild being given the power on who admins and who doesn't.  No offense to [PARA], I'm sure they are great people, but the general public will be quicker to support the current TS server retooled rather than what they may perceive as [PARA] TS and the public are simply guests.

I also think Thuley running it is best, for all the reasons listed already. Having someone who's neutral and still loyal to the server (if not, why would these forums still exist?) is the best bet.

I  think it's a good thing that Thuley doesn't play anymore but only supports eBay in his current form for many moons. Imagine if he was w/ ZoD or whatever guilds have left eBay. Or whoever's going to leave next despite saying what.

Thuly is a pillar of this community whether he plays or not and I don't think anyone disagrees with that.  Secondarily he has specifically ask for assistance with administration and given an plan on when he would select them from a shortlist.  That admin would fix the issue that you are proposing to move to an entirely new server for.

Put your hat in to admin to fix the problem.  Simple as that.

Obviously it is a divided decision here, I would like to point out to everyone that in order for us to build a TS that is dedicated to Ehmry Bay we need a team that is dedicated to that TS. Thuley is a good person and the intentions are in the right place but with his focus here on this website and the limited amount of time he can offer (compared to [Para]) the decision we make here needs to be the right one.

I have been on Ehmry Bay since the beginning of the game, add onto that 8 years of Guild Wars 1 leading and running Teamspeak servers and the guilds from both. You will be hard pressed to find more stabilty on Ehmry Bay. I don't claim to be the best person for the job but I do promise solidarity, stabilty, equality, and a new home for everyone. Paradise has built up enough funds to keep our TS up for 2 years with enough slots for everyone. With the guilds that have already come over it has been smooth and effortless on both sides to setup. We have already begun setting up community WvW runs which have been very successful, and have plans to do Karka Queen, Tequatl, and 1.2k LA runs.

In the end I am just asking for everyones patience and to come together as a server.

To those of you who do not think it can work, I ask you to make the attempt to see if it can then make a judgement call.

To those of you who want to make it work I encourage you to contact me.

For all the Guild Leaders out there I offer you a place where your guild can work with everyone else in Ehmry Bay and equal rights and admin for all Leaders.

Please consider my words, we love Ehmry Bay, it is our home and always will be.

Appreciate the effort but no.  Not my signature coming also from an ehmry beta player and a gw1 beta player.  I appeal to you not to split the community any further. No more damage please.

Edit:  also I have no problems with you but the more I walk away the more I find it offensive anyone would even elude to Thuly not being dedicated to us considering all he does non profit for us.  Just saying... the inferences here Are Just Off The Wall.

I don't want to start something here, so this is going to be my last post in this thread and I'll move on.

First, I just want to say I think it's great that Moxie is offering their TS. Kudos to them.

Secondly, I just want to say I find it a little odd that you want to "come together as a server" right now. I've never seen you guys active on these forums until today. Never once seen an event scheduled or on the calendar by you. I've never seen you guys show up at events that are posted on these forums. In fact, the last server wide event that I ran, right after I was spamming it all day in LA and elsewhere, you guys decided to do Karka Queen for yourselves even when I mentioned that a server wide event was taking place and prevented the server wide zerg from getting it. Speaking of LA runs, while people were trying to organize in map to get the 1.2k bags, you guys were leading your own personal zerg to get the rubble and ignoring everything else.

Your effort is appreciated, but I find it very difficult to buy what you're selling.

Thuley owns the forums, so it makes sense that he owns the TS.  He has always been fair with his rules (as far as I have seen, and I've been here for a long while), and good with his choices as  to who helps him.  

We do not need another guild trying to take over.  We need our guilds to work together, not fight over who runs what.

I was once banned from speaking on these forums for like a month.  Pussy Riot was treated better than me.  I still think that Thuley should be the ultimate authority on the TS.  Hell, the guy wouldn't join a guild in game just so that he wouldn't seem bias in how he ran these forums.

Unless the [PARA]troopers send me newds.  That may change everything.
