Precursor/legendary crafting confirmed to require PvP.

This might be the most disappointing news I've ever read for the game.

Do we know how much PvP?

As long as it's no more than a match or two per day - enough for me to get my dailies for example - then I'm not really bothered.  But if you need to grind something like 500 wins, then yeah nah.

I can think of way more disappointing things than this though, but that's for another thread.

The image on Dulfy says you need "100 Shards of Glory", which are obtained from reward tracks and the dailies.

The problem is, I don't PvP. At all. I literally have a perfect 0 win/loss record. The absolute only way I would do this is by joining one of those custom arenas where I barely have to participate.

Would be worse if they required sharts.

May as well be the same thing if it comes from PvP. :B

Probably won't have people loitering around the bank as much if it's full of sharts.

Changes coming to salvaging and dungeons rewards, and not in a good way.

Well, to some extent. But the fact that they want to increase scarcity should tell you to horde stuff for a while. One, you may need them yourself. Two, if you don't, you'll make a lot more money off people who do once the changes are made.

If you were so inclined, you could speculate on the kinds of things people will want (e.g. maybe crafting materials for the new legendaries?), buy them now, and then sell them later.

Is anyone else put off by them allowing [DnT] and [Att] to beta test raids over everyone else? Like, what, was my pre-purchase money somehow worth less because I don't stream my ego every day on Twitch, dicklords?

I don't think I'd mind if their initial attempts to let us test it in the betas didn't fail so hard.

Not gonna lie, I was more psyched about the new squad UI, and pretty ticked off that we didn't really get to test it in WvW.

They really should be doing more outside testing than 3 beta weekends, but that's anet for you they'll test shit on live environment.

DnT and Att probably have a lot of raiding experience from other games, if it's the same DnT from EQ and WoW they have a ton of experience, would make sense to allow raiding guilds to test raid content and provide instant feedback in the limited amount of time they have.

Squad UI will hopefully be nice. I don't really like to command so much though.

Never heard of DnT before GW2. "Status" of guilds isn't important to me at all - they've been featured on other Anet crap and I have heard that devs are in their guild, but I am very opposed to favoritism. Moreover, I don't see the point in them announcing that certain guilds will test it if there is a NDA in place anyway.

[DnT] is commonly called the top PvE guild in NA (I think KING/SC/etc are all EU) in the game when it comes to hardcore content. They host dungeon tournaments, post the "meta" PvE builds and explain them with actual numbers, and typically are pretty exclusive on membership. They're also the ones that have been begging for harder content since basically 3 months after release.

[Att] (though it has a few old Ehmry people in it) is an all around guild that can organize. They're also very friendly with a few of the devs (Att uses a TS provided by Shazbawt, a Anet dev) and also Woodenpotatoes is a member of it.

*shrug*

Exclusivity, YouTubers...colossal egos. Not much much relevant to me. Hopefully something useful comes from the testing and the content doesn't end up tailored to the preferences a very specific subset of players as a result.

Engineer Profession Icon

We’ve had some issues over the years with folks being able to tell the difference between the Engineer and Elementalist profession icons, in particular when they are shrunk down to smaller sizes for party UI. This became even more apparent when we began testing our updated large squad UI. As a result, we’re going to be changing the engineer icon to better differentiate between the two. We’ve also done a bit of re-work to better differentiate the icons between Scrapper, Tempest, Engineer and Elementalist.
WELL IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME.
