Oxford has lots of words, however inane, added to its namesake dictionary on a fairly regular basis. Initialisms such as 'OMG' and 'AFK' are recognised by it--it's a modern dictionary and as such it should keep up to date with language and its uses. That does not reflect the correctness of said words, merely a commonplace usage of them (which, I sorrowfully admit, means that at some point they'll probably be considered standard, but not now, anyway).

It follows then that 'irregardless' has been in dictionaries for something akin to a hundred years, often with a little note announcing it to be nonstandard. You're perfectly free to use it--it's a word--but you'll probably be considered somewhat of a plebeian by your dictionary scouring peers (as well as those with an innate need for perceived superiority).
